Jesus calls on us continually to change our hearts and change our attitudes. Unless we change, we perish! We always begin our celebration of the Eucharist with a call to repent. Let us listen to that call now.
Theme of the Weekend Readings: Jesus calls on us to repent, reminding us that we worship a God of kindness who gives his people a second chance.
First Reading: God reveals his name to Moses, who removes his sandals as a sign of respect.
Second Reading: Saint Paul warns his followers to take care as to how they live their lives.
Gospel: Jesus calls us to repent and reminds us of God’s willingness to give us a second chance.

My life is but a weaving
Between the Lord and me;
I cannot choose the colours,
He worketh steadily.
Oft-times he weaveth sorrow,
And I, in foolish pride
Forget he sees the upper,
And I the under side.
Not till the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly,
Shall God unroll the canvas
And explain the reason shy.
The dark threads are as needful,
In the weaver’s skilful hand,
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern he has planned.
He knows, he loves, he cares –
Nothing this truth can dim;
He gives the very best to those
Who leave the choice to him.
Wisdom: “What impresses us about Christ is that there is no difference between what he says and what he does.”
Humour: As a woman rushed with a kettle of water to pour over her burning curtains, her husband shouted at her ‘Don’t be a fool Mary, sure that water’s no good – it’s boiling.’
