Thirty Third Sunday of the Year
We live in a world which is full of confusion and unrest. In the midst of such a world we are expected to witness to Christ. To be good and faithful witnesses we need help from on high. Therefore it is to God we now turn for the courage and strength we need.
Theme of the Weekend Readings: The readings focus on the end of the world and Christ’s second coming.
First Reading: The early Christians believed that the end of the world was near.
Second Reading: We are reminded of the value of work.
Gospel: The early persecution of Christians felt like the end of the world. and the second coming of Christ.
Wednesday and Friday: 9:30am.
William O’Leary, Waterford Road and Carlow
Noel Banville, Shanbogh
Michael Browne, Ardagh, Limerick
Michael Maher, Tinneranny

The Mission of the Church in Changing Times: The new schedule of Masses for Advent comes into force on Saturday 30th November 2019. The Sunday Mass remains the same, with Mass in Listerlin at 9:30am and in Rosbercon at 11am. On Saturday evenings, Rosbercon will have Mass on the second and fourth Saturday of each month while Glenmore will have Mass on the first, third and fifth Saturday. These Masses will be celebrated at 7pm. Tullogher will have Mass on the Saturday of the first Sunday of each month, also at 7pm. At the beginning of each month those who attend Mass in Tullogher will be able to celebrate the anniversaries of their loved ones which occur that month. A special devotion will be provided.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel every Wednesday morning from 10am to 12pm. All are welcome to attend.
Just a Thought: November Questions: Mother Teresa of Calcutta wrote, “Heaven is our home. People ask me about death and whether I look forward to it. I answer, ‘Of course’ because I am going home. Dying is not the end. It is just the beginning. Death is a continuation of life; it is where our soul goes to God, to speak to God. We only surrender our body in death – our heart and our soul live forever. When we die we are going to be with God, and with all those who have gone before us. Our family and our friends will be waiting for us. Heaven must be a beautiful place. Every religion has an eternity, another life.
Renovation of the Parish Hall: Over the next year we need to raise in the region of €40,000.00 to meet the cost of further renovations to the Parish Hall at Albatross to comply with the new standards of safety required by the Fire Officer and recent Health and Safety Legislation. The works involve the constructing of Emergency Exit Access Ramps and the fitting of Fire Safety Doors and Fire Shields. We are also installing new alarm systems and improved lighting. With the putting down of the Tarmacadam in October this year we now have a Parish Hall we can all be proud of.
Parishioners who wish to make their contributions to the Parish/Priest of Rosbercon for 2020 by Standing Order can do so by giving their name to Fr. Dan. People may find this facility useful as it eliminates all envelopes and also simplifies parish administration.

Next week-end, 23rd and 24th November 2019 – the Feast of Christ the King – is designated by the Church in Ossory as Diocesan Safeguarding Awareness Weekend. During the weekend the Church focuses on the importance of safeguarding children/vulnerable adults of our faith community and the importance of ensuring good safeguarding practice throughout the Diocese. Good Safeguarding practice is a priority in our parishes, our schools and in all sporting and cultural organisations. It is important for all of us who work with children and vulnerable adults to ensure our safeguarding practice is up to date and in line with national requirements. Good safeguarding practice is integral to ministry – it is not an option.
Rosbercon Parish Safeguarding Representatives are Brid Vereker, Millbanks Close and Anne O’ Sullivan, Ballykenna. If you have a Safeguarding concern, contact Brid or Anne. Please note Safeguarding Statements are displayed in the porches of the Churches of the Parish.
The Human Spirit.
Our spirit is our most precious possession.
It is our greatest source of energy.
However, while it can be very strong,
It can also be very brittle.
It can be an oak unmoved in a storm,
Or a frail reed swaying in the wind.
It can be a piece of granite or a piece of china.
What is it that enables the spirit to soar,
And what is it that causes it to sink?
Sadness weighs it down; joy lifts it up.
Criticism erodes it; praise builds it up.
Failure shrinks it; success enlarges it.
Despair causes it to wilt; hope breathes new life into it.
Rejection wounds it; acceptance heals it.
Hatred poisons it; love purifies it.
Fear cripples it; solitude calms it; prayer strengthens it.
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on us.
Wisdom: ‘Who does not thank for little, will not thank for much’.
Next Bingo Night is Wednesday 20th November at 8pm. Lotto Prize will be €800.00 and also Split the Pot on the night.
¨ Tullogher Rosbercon St. Vincent De Paul
Our annual Church door collection will take place at all Masses within the parish on the weekend of the 7th/8th December next. We greatly appreciate all donations received. It is important to note all money received without exception goes towards the assistance of those resident within our parish in urgent need usually in the form of food or assistance towards children’s clothing, footwear or school books costs. At Christmas time we also like to give a few bags of coal primarily to elderly and deserving persons living alone within our parish who’s sole income is usually their pension which provide little money for winter heating costs. Any parishioner who becomes aware of such need within our parish please let any of the following committee members know; Seamus Waters, Mary B Conway, Bríd Vereker, Catherine Cottrell and Richard McElwee, who will deal with the situation with discretion or by contact on our special help line 087-7140112.
