Twenty Fifth Sunday of the Year

As Christians we are called to live in peace and harmony with one another. One of the things that are very damaging to unity is false ambition. This causes us to put ourselves and our own interests first.

Theme of the Weekend Readings:  Being a follower of Christ means moving beyond rivalry and conflict.

First Reading:  The writer describes the anger a good person can endure.

Second Reading: Saint James challenges people to conquer the wrong desires in themselves.

Gospel:  Jesus tells of his death and resurrection and of his love for children.

Weekday Masses

Wednesday & Friday:    9.30am.

Thursday:                      9.45am

Safeguarding Children: Please note that our Safeguarding Statement is published in the Porch and Sacristy of the three Churches of our Parish. The Parish of Rosbercon, in common with Parishes across the Country, is committed to safeguarding the children of their Parish. On a practical level, we ensure that we always have two adults with the Alter Servers, in the Sacristy and we keep a Register to  record all those who are present in the Sacristy before and after Mass.

Just a Thought: My life is a gift of God, given not in years, but a day at a time. Today is the day the Lord has made for me, and he plans it to be the most important day of my life. Yesterday is gone, never to return and tomorrow and all that it holds is still secret. Only today is mine and on this day I offer my life to God with all my prayers, works, joys and  sufferings. Dear Lord, receive my gift graciously!

Wisdom: “A gentleman is a man who can disagree without being disagreeable.”

Humour: A catholic couple in Chicago made plans to visit Florida. They planned to stay in the same hotel where they had their honeymoon. Their busy schedule made it impossible for the couple to travel together. So the husband checked into the hotel on Thursday and the wife planned to arrive the following day. The husband decided to email his wife but he mistyped the address. Meanwhile in Dallas a widow had just returned from her husband’s funeral and checked her emails expecting messages of condolence from relatives and friends. She read the message and fainted. The message read:

To: My Loving Wife

From: Your Departed Husband

Subject: I’ve arrived.

I know you are surprised to hear from me so soon, but they have computers here now and I thought I’d let you know I’m already here and checked in. Everything is ready for your arrival tomorrow

P.S Sure is hot down here!

Jesus said to his apostles “Do this is memory of me”

We all love to be remembered.

This was true even for Jesus.

But if we want to be remembered,

We have a duty also to remember.

Memory is a powerful thing.

Wrongly used it brings death;

Rightly used it brings life,

And it is a form of immortality.

It keeps the past alive.

Those we remember never die;

They continue to walk and talk with us.

Lord, when we celebrate the Eucharist

We are remembering you.

May that remembering bring us life here and hereafter.
