Thirtieth Sunday of the Year

Theme of the Weekend Readings:  We come to God who cares for his people and gives the blind new sight.

First Reading: the Lord does not intend to allow his people to suffer indefinitely. Those who have been in tears are called to shout for joy.

Second Reading: Christ is our High Priest. He leads us to the Father and he makes the Father’s goodness   present to us.

Gospel:  Jesus is on the most important journey ever undertaken by a human being: his journey to the cross. Yet he stops when he hears the cry of a poor blind man.

Please let us have the names and addresses of any family members, friends or neighbours whom you wish to receive a card. The emigrants will also be remembered at our Parish Christmas Masses.

Salutation to the Dawn

Look to this day!

For it is life, the very life of life.

In its brief course

lie all the truths and realities of our existence:

The bliss of growth,

The glory of action,

The splendour of achievement,

For yesterday is but a dream

And tomorrow is only a vision,

But today well lived makes yesterday a dream of happiness

And every tomorrow a vision of hope.

Look well, therefore, to this day!

Such is our greeting to the dawn.

Wisdom: You always pass failure on the way to success.

Humour: The old begin to complain of the conduct of the young when they themselves are no longer able to set a bad example!
