Pilgrimage: To be on the move slowly: To be seeking for treasures that do not rust: To be comfortable with your heart’s questions. To be moving towards the holy ground of God’s   presence withempty hands and an open heart. Consider Peig Sayer’s reminiscences about her return journey to the Great Blasket Island, after a pilgrimage to a blessed well outside     Tralee.

“It was a lovely night, the air was clean, full of brilliant stars and the moon shining on the sea. I could hear too the murmuring of the sea running in and out through the cleft of the stones and the music of the oars cleaving the sea across to Ventry.”

Wisdom:  The best and most beautiful things in the world     cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart.                                           Helen Keller

Humour: At the Pearly Gates again, a taxi driver and a priest are waiting in line. St. Peter consults his list and says to the taxi  driver, “Take this silken robe and golden staff and enter the Kingdom of Heaven.” St Peter next greets the priest saying, “Take this cotton robe and wooden staff and enter the Kingdom of Heaven.” “Just a minute,” says the priest. “That man was a taxi driver, and he gets a silken robe and a golden staff while I get a cotton robe and a wooden staff. How can this be? “Up here we work by results,” says St. Peter. “While you preached, people slept; while he drove, people prayed.”

A Valentine Prayer

I said a Valentine Prayer for you

And asked the Lord above

To fill your heart and bless your soul

With the precious gift of love.

I asked Him for sincere love

The kind that’s meant to stay

Just like the generous love

You give to those you touch each day.

I prayed for love from family

And from every cherished friend.

Then I asked the Lord to give you

His life that knows no end.

Next Bingo Night is Wednesday 19th February at 8pm. Lotto Prize will be €1000.00. Also Split the Pot.

During the month of February, St. Canice’s NS, Rosbercon are running an Attendance Drive to highlight the importance of attending school every day. During January the children engaged in discussions about the positive reasons for attending school. The students have all entered a poster competition to show why ‘Every School Day Counts’ and the winners of this competition are now busy acting as Attendance Ambassadors in their classes. The children are all tracking their own attendance on their attendance calendars and are trying to ‘Strive for Five’ school days each week in February. The children will receive a prize for each full week they attend school in February. We are glad to report that after one week, almost all students have missed no school days in February and we look forward to handing out more attendance prizes over the next few weeks.
